    Exclamation

I have (With an electronics friend) designed a firing mechanism for gunshots on a wall, fence, etc...

There is only one problem, I need some sort of small explosive.

Would the throwdown Bangers work? (The ones that you throw on the floor, and they make a bang).

I only want SMALL explosives, nothing dangerous.
Does anyone out there know where I can get some banger explosives?
    Can I make them?
Do I have to have any kind of licence?

I am doing this for film effects, I am NOT trying to become an overnight terrorist!

    (Honest). biggrin

Similarly to my answer to a previous question, you'd be amazed at what can be achieved just using a concealed tube and some white powder (talcum powder works best).

Say you wanted a bullet hitting a fence - just get a plank of wood the same colour as the fence and lean it up against the fence so it blends in. Then take a rubber tube (from a hardware store) and dip the end about 1 inch into some talcum powder, so the tube is filled with 1 inch or so of powder. Attach this end of the tube to the back of your plank of wood, so the end of the tube points out sideways, and then run the rest of the tube down the plank and away along the ground (out of shot).

When the bullet-hit is meant to happen, somebody just blows really hard down the tube so that the powder bursts out the other end looking very much like a bullet ricochet! This might sound like a crummy idea but it works - I've used it in my own films.

There is also a technique using a mouse-trap - you attach a metal rod to the sprung part of a mouse trap, set the trap off, then the rod swings up with quite a lot of force and can be used to smash holes in things etc. to give the impression of a bullet hit. I've never tried it myself - sounds a bit dangerous....
